Farmhouse Decor | 9 Simple Ways To Add Spring Into Your Home | Amitha Verma

We are in the middle of a beautiful spring season here in Houston, Texas. Unlike the summer, we have a short springtime, so I wanted to hop on it and share some quick-turnover farmhouse decor projects that can transform any space this season.

What I love about these projects is that they aren’t a whole home makeover, but simple one-and-done decor ideas that are inexpensive, and you can do throughout your home to welcome spring.

Project 1: Seasonal Wreaths

Wreaths make perfect decor projects no matter what time of year, adding pops of color and nature into your home—all you have to do is combine the seasonal foliage.

I love adding spring wreaths into my seasonal decor because they take up a large area and make a big visual impact on a budget.

They’re perfect for displaying on your door, over the dining room buffet table, or on your kitchen range hood.

Project 2: Floral Arrangements

One of my favorite things to do is head over to my local grocery store for a beautiful set of blooms to add to my farmhouse or French country-style vases.

You could use a confit-style vase, a pitcher, or a wide-mouth container to create a quick arrangement using 1–2 floral bundles to bring some bright color to your space.

Some of my favorite spring flowers include:

  • Hyacinths
  • Tulips
  • Daffodils
  • Primrose

I’m keeping this arrangement loose and simple by using mostly white miniature roses with pops of pink.

If you’re interested in learning how to get started with floral compositions, you can head over to our YouTube channel to watch my mini-series on how to create the perfect floral arrangement for centerpieces.

Project 3: Dry Florals

As I’m updating the decor in my home to match the season, I love adding dried or faux florals to tie into the colors we often see in nature during the spring.

Dry florals are the perfect answer if you don’t want to create a fresh arrangement but still want to incorporate that newness into your home.

This year, I’m adding some dried lavender spheres into a low bowl on my buffet. Dried lavender smells divine while bringing in that soft pop of color I’m looking for.

Another no-fuss botanical decor you can include are moss balls and boxwoods. They add a bright pop of green and offer a lot of versatility in how you use them.

Project 4 & 5: Books And Beads

Speaking of green, I love using beautiful decorative books in the shades of green or blue to display onto tables and countertops.

The beauty of book covers is that they come in all different shapes, sizes, and colors. I love perusing through old antique stores for interesting book covers as small decorative items. It’s as if to remind us that even after the story is written and read, the book’s life isn’t over. It’s still a beautiful piece of art that can add a lot of interest to a small space.

To kick it up a notch, I’ll arrange a beautiful rosary-style bead set on top.

Project 6: Teacup Candles

Vintage teacups are some other gem-finds at your local antique store that can add to the farmhouse style charm of your space. You can get creative and DIY your own teacup candle, or you can support an artisan business. These are available at our local store in Houston, Village Antiques or give us a call to ship these to you!

I love that the saucer brings in this blue spring color, and the candlelight adds a romantic, cozy vibe to any space with a beautiful aroma.

Project 7: Amitha Verma Chalk Finish Paint Makeover

When I think of this season, light and fresh color palettes come to mind. Along with some spring cleaning, it’s also a great time to do a little (or big) chalk finish paint makeover on some of your wooden furniture.

Really, any change of season for me is an excuse to paint.

There’s nothing more transformative than a coat of paint, and I encourage you to grab an old piece of furniture or maybe even give a fresh coat to your old kitchen that feels dark and drab.

By slapping on a couple of coats of chalk finish paint, you can easily give anything a makeover and give your space a whole new feeling.

Project 8: Chipped Paint & White-Wash Decor Items

It wouldn’t be spring if we didn’t bring something chippy or white-washed into our homes, would it?

Worn-in wood finishes are a quintessential farmhouse decor style.

Why not play with your decor by incorporating antique white washed distressed shutters to add interest and texture to your walls. The white-washed finish also looks fantastic on mirrors, panels, trays, or picture frames.

Project 9: Framed Art

Last but not least, perhaps the simplest way to update your home for the spring is to change out your framed art.

Whenever I go antique shopping or thrifting, I cannot resist buying artwork for my home, office, or even the shop.

Adding landscape, florals, brightly colored paintings, prints, or sketches are fantastic ways to experience the seasons within your own home. Framed art doesn’t have to go on your walls. You can place them on your kitchen counter, a side table, buffet, or even in your bathroom counter.

Updating your home inspired by the feeling of spring is as simple as that!

I would love to hear your thoughts in the comments. How are you going to update your farmhouse decor for spring?
