Let’s go shopping at home

How did that closet reorganization project from last week work out? Did you dive in? Or do you have the quarantine blues, feeling unmotivated to jump into anything big right now?

I hear ya friend.

I jump from fixing up a little corner in my house, to wanting to fully renovate large sections of my home all on any given day.

Never have I felt so scattered!

So to regroup, I went small and did a little project. My trick for getting centered again.

Though I have a home office, I often work from my dining room. For one, the kids have taken over my home office for their zoom calls, and two, I just love moving around for different types of projects.

My dining room is the room where I feel the most creative.

Being in that room, I was getting tired of looking at the same decor I’ve had on my buffet. So tired, I decided to get up from my work and move some stuff around. Does this ever happen to you?

Without being able to go “shopping” anywhere, I decided to shop at home. You don’t have to go out and buy a new set of decor pieces to change up the look of your space.

Yup, I shopped my seasonal decor closet to get some new inspiration in my work area.

And here’s the crazy part, while I added some “new” spring decor, my husband wanted to put out some of our original holiday decor – usually a big no-no for me. I put away all of my holiday decor by January 7 and don’t pull it out until the last week of November.

But my mantra right now is, anything goes. Breakfast for dinner, dinner for breakfast, no set bedtimes, and Christmas in Spring.

The best part about this project is how easy it was. I simply switched out one decor object.

That’s it, I just moved around one piece of home decor and it felt so fresh and new!

And it even includes the great metal color trends for this year – what a win!

To clarify, I didn’t move around 10 pieces, or remove everything and start again (which is what I often advise). Do not do this, it will just stress you out. I simply swapped out one object to get a little fresh new corner.

So what do you think?

Think you can handle this project? Do you like the gold tones all mixed in together? Did you like the before or the after? Leave a comment in the comments and let me know.

Everything you see in my home comes from Village Antiques, including the little gold wreath on a stand.

Feel free to email us if you are interested in any items. We are doing a once week curbside pickup from Village Antiques in Houston, or we can ship it to you. info@amithaverma.com

I just wanted to take a moment and say a huge, heartfelt thank you for your kind support, we’ve loved getting your emails, before and after project photos, and comments! It’s been keeping all of us cheery and inspired!

Pray this week’s blog finds you well and healthy.

Blessings to you and yours.

Love,

Amitha
