4 Simple Ways to Bring Fall into Your Home

The other day, my dear friend starting singing, “It’s the most wonderful time of the year… ♪

Of course, she was jokingly referring to the kiddos heading back to school.

Thankfully my boys are still young enough that they love school, so they’re actually thrilled to be back. This year, Rohan’s in 5th grade and Devan is in 4th. (I’m in tears over the fact that my baby is in his last year of elementary school!)

This time of year has always been a favorite for my family.

My boys love all of the fun festivities that happen this time of year.

I have to admit, I do too.

There are so many warm traditions and fun things to do, from preparing fall-inspired dishes to breaking out the fall décor – we can’t wait to celebrate!

Our favorite fall activity is cooking, which my boys love to do with me! The tasty ingredients. The hearty, comforting aromas.

Another tradition we have involves incorporating a few new items into our household in honor of our favorite season.

I love adding in a few simple updates to bring that cozy fall feeling into our home. It’s not an entire house overhaul but rather a few quick, fun and easy updates you can enjoy throughout the season.

Here are a few that you can try in your own home!

Start with the door

Look for inexpensive containers from your local gardening or hardware store and then spruce them up with a little fall color, like we did with these containers.

You can use Amitha Verma Chalk Finish Paint to get this gorgeous matte finish in a fall color palette like I did here.

Believe it or not, this only took about 15 minutes to complete.

Then top it off with some fall inspired florals, like these mums. You can find these in a wide variety of colors. Go with what matches your exterior décor or, my tip: pick whatever you color you love. It’s not a big commitment, so why not?!?

If you really adore this look, you can go bigger with heftier floral containers that are more permanent, like these.

I recommend the lighter containers for indoors:

And the big, stone style containers for outdoors:

Next stop, the floor

If your house is like mine with a softer color palette, you can add a quick pop of fall color with these gorgeous vintage floor rugs.

All handmade, these rugs are classic, timeless and feel like home.

You will love the gorgeous colors and patterns in these rugs that instantly feel like fall.

Some of my favorites include these:

I have my eye on this one for the floor next to my backdoor.

Then move on to some pillow talk

Add an easy pop of color to your sofa and chairs with gorgeous fall pillows.

You don’t have to make over your entire house.

Just one pillow like this brings in the fall and makes you want to curl up with a great book and a pumpkin spice latte!

Last but not least, add a pop of color with your containers and place them on coffee tables and your island.

How so?

Use copper containers to contain your arrangements like these:

These copper tones look gorgeous with white, gray and beige color palettes and add in the instant warmth of autumn. (You can actually add any color flowers into these and they still feel like fall.)

Don’t forget to arrange these on a tray, and follow my rule of 3.

Here are a few fall trays that can work for this season or even year-round.

And be sure to stay tuned, because over the next few weeks, I’ll be sharing some fun mantle and tablescape ideas for the fall and beyond!

With love and in friendship,
