an easy way to get a small win

If you’re like me, you need a small win.

Like the rest of the world, I’m sure you are spending a lot of extra time at home lately, absorbing all the news. I feel ya.

Without the daily commute or the pressure to change out of your PJ’s, it can be hard to motivate yourself to do much other than shovel through your hoarded stock of pantry snacks! I know I have fallen into those tendencies a bit (a lot) since being stuck at home.

Being at home all day also has my mind racing with ideas for projects that I finally have time to tackle.

But, I don’t want to fill my list with large-scale projects that realistically won’t be completed in one day, so instead I have chosen to take it slow and just make a small decision, so I feel like I have a small win, amidst all this stress. I urge you to do the same.

Although you may be tempted to rip out all of your floors, I would say maybe hold off on that for the moment!

It may sound silly, but my big project today – choosing between which linen napkins that I want to add into my home decor collection. I found these at Village Antiques in Houston.

I made a quick video for you to see what I am choosing between. Watch it here, and then leave a comment below with your thoughts in the comments section:

I love hosting, and by now I would have had a spring brunch with friends and family on the calendar. I had already started planning my menu, goan chicken, chili shrimp, a pineapple tamarind soup to start, all served with lemon flavored rice.

And of course, I had started dreaming up my spring table design, but I had not made any decisions yet on what I was going to include, leaving it to “later.”

Even though my Spring brunch is off, with how many home-cooked meals we’re all having lately, I know my boys and I can still enjoy a beautiful table!

So that’s it. This week, I’m just making a small decision. Making a decision, and committing feels good! You know where you are going, big or small. And that’s what I’m looking for, some direction, feel good feelings, and a small win. Even small decisions like this can make a difference in giving us a bit of peace and joy.

So go small this week, and get your small win this week.

A small one and done project, relearning an old skill, or just a simple decision like I am doing.

Just last weekend we met over 8 different customers who came in, called or text to get advice on their Amitha Verma Chalk Finish Paint Makeover – which I was so excited to hear!

I love hearing so many people making lemons out of lemonade right now.

So as my Daddy always says, keep on truckin! He’s a physician and on the front line, with my brother, and the entire amazing medical community – so if he can follow this mantra, so can we.

Another mantra he’s asked us to follow, stay home, slow the spread, and be safe. Let’s all do our part, we are in this together

On a separate note, so many of you have texted, directly messaged us on social media, and called to continue to purchase things from our company, Village Antiques.

I thank you deeply for supporting local business. We are just taking it a day at a time and I thank you for helping me make sure my team gets paid. Myself, and my team appreciate you.

Stay safe, and healthy.

Love and blessings to you and your family,

Amitha
