Every year a color expert company called Pantone releases their color of the year, and for 2013 that color is Emerald green! Get ready to see this color featuring heavily in fashion trends, jewelry trends and home decor trends this year.
What does this mean for your home? Should you rush out and redo your whole house according to the color trend report? No! Of course not – unless of course you have a passion for green! But if you love participating in the latest craze for the season’s ‘it color’ you might be inspired to find a piece or two that follow the trend.
The great thing about green is that it is one of the most easy colors to live with. Green is all around us in nature, and as human beings we find it a very comforting, cozy, pleasant color. That’s why you might find green in doctor’s offices, bookstores and hotels.
And if you’re not quite sure how to incorporate this bold color into your own decor, get some inspiration from these classic Louis XVI chairs that have been upholstered in a rich green fabric! I love this rich color on these classic chairs.
Or how about this vintage art from France? Who would have thought so many decades ago they would be spot on the color trend! This painting has such beautiful emerald tones.
We just adore these beautiful, aged, weathered emerald green shutters. These would be so elegant against a backdrop of almost any color, especially creams, beige tones, whites and grays.
Or how about some stunning Majolica? These beautiful antique emerald green Majolica plates would pop against a neutral wall, and add a surprisingly modern flair to a room.
Or you could keep it simple and sweet with a pair of boxwoods! These beauties are so easy to take care of, just spritz with water once a month! Dream plants – and stylish to boot. And here’s a design tip of mine, my favorite thing to add with emerald green is a bit of gilt.
So there you see: just because it’s a trend, doesn’t mean it hasn’t been around forever!
