How to decorate your home between seasons? The answer is simple. Use every season French country decor.
Okay, now what the heck does that even mean??
It can be tricky to style your home using between winter and spring decor. This is especially true if you don’t even know what classifies in this genre. Lucky for you, I have compiled seven ways that you can decorate your home between seasons!
The first way to work every season French country decor into your home is with crystal decor. This style of art is exclusive to my shop, Village Antiques.
I love these pieces of decor because it has that beautiful glistening that we love seeing during the holiday season. The clarity and crispness, brings in those winter vibes that I want to see and feel into my home.
The see through and opaque style lends itself to be left out all during the spring, summer and beyond.
You could bring this decor into your home several different ways:
You can also bring in every season French country decor into your home by using seasonal or darker florals.
Keep it simple. Head out to your local grocery store and look for deep purples, lavender, or dried stems. Then add them into an existing vase or pitcher to place on your kitchen island or a coffee table.
You can also achieve the same effect by simply using greenery throughout your home.
The next way you can bring in the winter feeling into your home is by embracing the color white.
Often we think about white, we think about summertime, but this is also a great winter color.
You can incorporate this colors several different ways:
Simply adding a little bit of white brings in that freshness that we love to think about during this season.
If you prefer white for summertime, you can instead bring richer textures and colors with your fabric choices.
This can be:
For example, at Village Antiques we have dark blue, almost black or gold toned velvet pillows. Either one instantly brings in the warmth of the season.
You can also change the texture to tapestry style, loose, or tight knit. Whichever style pillow you choose, they’ll give your sofa the heavy texture that we love seeing during these between-season months.
Being in Houston, most of the year is pretty hot for us down here. So, I love bringing in a cozy throw rug to bring visual warmth without cranking up the heater.
You can easily do this with a smaller size area rug. These are simple to add into a sitting area. Additionally, placing a runner in front of your kitchen sink, back or front door is a great option.
Then when the season’s over, you can simply roll these up and store them away. They’re effortless to replace for the next season with a new color palette.
The next way you can add in some of this warmth is by mixing up your furniture a little bit. If you know me, you probably know that I love chalk painted furniture.
However, there is also a lot of beauty in natural wood or even darker wood. I want you to consider mixing them with your lighter pieces as well.
You can simply add in a new piece of furniture or home decor with some darker wood tones. Bleached or natural wood is also good for this to add that layer of warmth and coziness into your home.
Some of my favorite ways to do this are by simply adding a pair of shutters into your home. That’s an easy piece of home decor that you can add and swap out during the seasons.
I also encourage you to look around your home to see where you might need another piece of furniture. Just use this color palette as your inspiration.
This could be:
Speaking of dark wood, the last tip is to use artwork and frames to embrace some of the darker colors in your home decor. There’s a beauty and the contrast of having a couple of dark pieces throughout your home.
My favorite ways to do this are with:
If you’re not too keen on bringing dark colors into your home, you can do it in a small way.
My favorite hack is to choose a small piece of furniture that you can move around. For me, that looks like a petite ottoman or seating area.
You can always bring this in and replace it during the different seasons. It’s just a good opportunity to create a cozy moment in your home.
My tip here is to keep one or two of these pieces out all year round. That way, you’ve always got one area of your home to curl up with a book and feel cozy. Whenever you want to enjoy the feelings of the winter season in your home, you know the spot!
And there you have it! Those are seven easy ways that you can enjoy the transition from the holiday season into the spring.
