French country neutral fall and holiday decor is highly underrated. These are the decorations you can leave out all year round without feeling too festive.
Don’t get me wrong, you can still enjoy autumnal and seasonal decorations using only neutral French country home decor.
This is perfect if you’re a lover of seasonal decor, but hate to put it away. Go neutral, not boring.
Styling non-seasonal specific color palettes in a way that still feels festive sounds counterintuitive, but the new decor at my shop, Village Antiques, was specially designed with multi-function, longevity, and elegance in mind.
In fact, my team and I have even put together a whole holiday decorating and shop tour event to teach you how to style your home using all of the new pieces and more. Click here to register.
I know not everyone has the time to attend, but I still want you to get in on some of my styling tips. That’s why I am sharing five different ways that you can bring in seasonal French country decor to make your house transition into the fall and winter without having to put it away once January hits:
The first way to style neutral French country decor is with a set of beautiful herbiers.
These are pressed leaves and florals that have been dried and then framed under glass.
We just installed a gallery wall at my store using herbiers that include the green color trend in the framing, but with a Farmhouse by Amitha twist. The wood is chippy and aged, just like French country style would have it, and the floral prints look like they’ve naturally antiqued with time.
It feels like rustic farmhouse fall decor, but as you can see, it’s such a beautiful, neutral color that it can stay out on your walls all year round because remember, green is a neutral!
A couple of blogs ago, I told you that you’re going to start seeing a lot of green this year and next year as a big interior design trend. I’ve been using this color in my decorating for over a decade and I want to show you why it’s such a great color to use to embrace the seasons.
You’ve probably seen these in my dining room, and I love how lived-in and dark and almost rustic style that they are that I don’t even take them down after the holiday season.
I love that moodiness that it brings into my dining room with just a little bit of natural art.
Speaking of green, we just got new candlesticks into the shop that are the perfect piece of French country decor to use now, for the holiday season, and leave out for next year.
The reason why I love these is because they have a beautiful, dark green and cream details, which gives me that very rustic Farmhouse vibe. They also have beautiful fretwork carvings that give the French country feeling that can easily be styled year round.
I love the heaviness that these bring onto a surface like a buffet, dining table, or side table. In the holiday season, we are usually drawn towards rich, decadent, heavy sorts of decor. This is a great way to still bring that in without placing a pumpkin or ceramic Santa figurine on your table.
On the topic of my dining room, you may remember last year I brought in a set of beautiful, weathered, dark toned shutters to add some rustic style into my home for the fall. This is a great way to bring in the feelings of the season, and keep it all year round.
I brought the shutters into my own home because I wanted to feel some of that rustic French country decor in my dining room, but I ended up loving it so much I left them up all year round. It gives my dining room a little bit of depth – a lot of depth actually, and a little bit of moodiness and broodiness, which makes for a very warm, welcoming, inviting room all year round.
And of course, if I love it in my home, I’m going to love it in my shop as well. We have tons of beautiful wall decor all throughout our shop on this big statement level.
I’m talking wall panels, antique remnants, shutters with beautiful shades of patina in blue, gray, green, warm wood tones, you name it. It’s all throughout, and one of my favorite ways to add a beautiful layer of warmth onto my walls whenever I’m decorating a project.
If you don’t want to go that big with your French country seasonal decor, you can easily look for a beautiful set of throw pillows that bring in the feeling of the season, but also can be left out all year round.
Some of my favorites are embroidered or cruel style pillows, something with a very rich, beautiful texture or, of course one of my favorite styles; a velvet pillow.
Last but not least, one of my favorite French country seasonal decor items that I love to put out and keep out after the holidays are table runners.
My best tip is to look for something that’s not holiday specific, but still brings in the warmth of the season. This could be something textural, a pop of gold, or simply a layer of linen to be the grounding factor for you to add all your different seasonal decor on top of.
Are you that type of person that loves to just put it out and leave it out for the entire next year? Or are you that type of person that loves to put out your seasonal decor and then swap it out for all the different seasons? Let me know in the comments!
