I need your help!
I’m working on a gorgeous powder room and it’s time to make the final selections.
Believe it or not, this part is often harder than nailing down the initial concept!
The thought of committing can really slow you down. And I’ll be honest – we’ve been delaying this project for quite a while now, but as I committed to back in January, this year I am holding myself accountable to the things I want to realize.
So here’s the deal. I absolutely adore jewel box powder rooms. I think powder rooms are a great way to express your passions and favorite design styles.
How you define “jewel box” should be based on one of my number one design principles – authenticity.
Who are you? What do you love? What inspires you?
That is what your home should be about.
I know it can be scary or even a big investment to do this throughout your entire home, so a powder bath is a great way to start small.
On this particular project, the expression is fanciful, antique and luxurious. Here’s what I envision this type of décor to look and feel like:
In this home, we’ve decided to include some antiques and incorporate a lot of gorgeous blue and pewter tones, along with crystal.
Basically, we’re going for a look that has a lot of very rich, aged and beautiful finishes.
We’re about to choose some of the signature pieces that complement each other and I would love your help to make the final selections!
Here’s what we working with:
Powder room vanity – I am turning this antique cabinet into a powder room vanity. Yes I know what you are thinking – my hubby always says it.
He thinks I’m crazy when I do this. Like, why can’t I just use a built-in vanity?
Here’s why. Because using a piece of furniture instantly adds warmth and coziness to a room. This is one of my must-do design hacks in kitchens, powder rooms and master bathrooms.
To really capture that look, I like to use an antique or vintage piece.

Next, we found some incredible antique lighting pieces to build out this jewel box powder.
Already sourced are these antique crystal sconces:
And this antique crystal chandelier with hints of purple:
Here is the mirror option:
I know it doesn’t look great yet – but as you know, I love a good furniture / decor makeover!
Here’s where I would love your help:
We are trying to decide between these 2 sinks. If it were your powder room, which one would you select?
Next decision are a few faucet selections. Here are the ones we are deciding between:
The last decision is whether or not to add wallpaper. I’ll admit, this bathroom is already over the top. Maybe we don’t need this, but I truly love wallpaper in a powder bath.
What do you think: yes or no?
To vote, leave a comment and let us know which you would select in each of the three categories by posting the corresponding number:
It’s always easier to choose with a friend helping out, so thank you in advance for your help!
